“More Than a Paycheck: How the Climate Crisis Affects Your Job, Your Working Conditions, and Your Contract” is a one-day workshop open to any union member who wants to learn how to protect themselves and their community from extreme weather and climate disasters through union power and collective bargaining.
In this workshop, we will discuss how to bargain climate protections into your contract to protect you, your co-workers and the community that you serve. And, importantly, we will discuss methods to win!
Please bring a copy of your current contract, which will be used to explore specific language on improving job-specific working conditions and prepare for potential climate disruption through contractual protections
Facilitators include Kristin Warner, former AFT organizer and current Renew Coalition member; Brian Tokar, UVM and Institute for Social Ecology faculty and member of United Academics (AFT); and Liz Medina, Executive Director of the VT AFL-CIO. If anyone from your Local is interested in developing or facilitating the workshop, too, please let Director Medina know (vslcaflcio@gmail.com or 802-272-6421)!
Lunch will be provided. If you have any dietary restrictions, please let Liz Medina know (vslcaflcio@gmail.com)
