It’s time to get it done for America’s workers.

The government shutdown has now dragged on for 23 days. Across the country, federal workers are struggling to pay bills without their paychecks.

This is the next post in our series that will take a deeper look at each of our affiliates. The series will run weekly until we've covered all 63 of our affiliates. Next up is the Seafarers International Union (SIU).

Barre, VT — The Vermont AFL-CIO proudly held its 2025 Annual Convention this past weekend in Barre at the historic Old Labor Hall, bringing together union leaders and members from across the state to chart the course for a stronger, more united labor movement.

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is the backbone of support for our nation’s brave heroes, providing essential health care, benefits and services that veterans have earned through their service.

But the VA is under attack.  

On Saturday, July 26, VT AFL-CIO held a successful Strike School, which prepared participants winning campaigns in collective bargaining.   Oregon AFL-CIO Director or Organizing Chris Maxie lead the training for 40 plus participants.
